Congrats to the Lady Cards, who earned their 5th straight NCAA Tourney appearance and 13th overall after going 29-4 and finishing second in the Big East behind 33-0 and tourney favorite UConn. It's their highest seeding ever.
What confuses this blogger is the fact that the Lady Cards landed a 3 seed, although they were ranked No. 5 overall with an RPI of 4. Baylor, Texas A&M, Auburn and Stanford "earned" the No. 2 seeds.
Said Coach Jeff Walz: "I have no understanding (for the 3 seed), but that's OK. We have to play now and win games. We'll explain it to (the team) that I think we got slighted, but that's just my opinion on things."
"We'll certainly tell them there's no respect for them. There's no question about that. It's discouraging."
The Cards face No. 14 Liberty Sunday night at 9:30 EST in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
