I should be kicked off the internet for the lack of support I have shown Angel McCoughtry and her Lady Cards this year, even though they have just as good of a record and ranking as the men. The Lady Cards will need all the support they can get as they face the hands-down #1 in UCONN tonight at 7PM. The Huskies haven't won by less than double-digits all year. In their previous meeting this season, the Lady Cards hung tough for about a half and ended up losing by around 30. This time the teams square off for the BIG EAST championship. Only this time it's in Storrs.
This does give our girl Angel a shot to show that she is the class of the BIG EAST after losing out on the Player of the Year award in conference to UCONN's Maya Moore. As Eric Crawford so eloquently put in his blog yesterday, Angel's stats are better across the board. Just another example of the Louisville hating going on in the mainstream media these days.
Candace Bingham is also playing well for the Cards as they fight for a #1 seed in the upcoming women's tourney. Coach Jeff Walz' squad is 29-3 and in the midst of the best season in Louisville women's basketball history. Even if there's a set-back tonight, playing against a rough bunch of girl like UCONN can do nothing but help the Lady Cards going into the big dance.
Check it out live in HD on ESPN at 7PM from the XL Center in Hartford.
