Pitino: Things Starting to Click

At his weekly presser yesterday, Coach Rick Pitino said the Cards are showing some promise in recent practices, specifically with working the ball around to get good shots. The Cards, who got 25 assists in their last game against DePaul Sunday, play Providence tonight at 7:30 at Freedom Hall on ESPN2. More on that later.

Pitino said that passing has been this team’s number one weakness but he’s seen vast improvement in that area in the past three days. "Things are starting to click for us in terms of focus and the young people coming around and understanding what it's all about," he said.

Senior CLASS Award Candidate (polls are still open!) Terrence Williams will be back in action tonight at “100% or very close to it,” said Pitino, which is convenient because Reggie Delk suffered a sprained ankle at practice yesterday and will not play tonight.

Louisville enters the game as a 13 point favorite.

The Women’s basketball team clinched the coveted “double-bye” for the Big East Tourney last night by beating St. John’s, 89-60. The No. 8 Cards were led by Angel McCoughtry’s 28 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 steals.

We’ll see if they can make another run at the Big East Championship, where last year they lost to UConn, 66-59.
