Derek Fathauer Gets Tour Card

Louisville has their own pro golfer to brag about now as Derek Fathauer finished T-2 at this year's PGA Tour Q-School, granting him a tour card for this upcoming season. Fathauer is coming off a year where his qualified for the U.S. Open (making the cut) and helped his Cards to great successes in the Big East.

Derek shot 24-under in the 108 hole tournament played at the Jack Nicklaus courses in LaQuinta, CA (PGA West, Alcatraz, ect.). The top-25 golfers this week received a year exemption on the tour. Other notables who qualified were Harrison Fazier (shot a 59 in round 2), Notah "Shooter" Begay, and John Huston. Derek becomes the third former Louisville golfer to qualify for the Tour along with Cardinal Club pro Ted Schulz and Jim Ferriel, Jr.

So congratulations to Derek from all the hacks here at L Yes! Hopefully one day he wil represent his country in the Ryder Cup like fellow Kentuckians Kenny Perry and JB Holmes did at Valhalla this past year and we can get some C-A-R-D-S instead of that god-awful chant that almost ruined my time out there.

According to U of L, Fathauer's first tournament will be the SONY Open in Hawaii January 12 - 18 at Waialae Country Club with a purse of $5,400,000. Good Luck to him and keep checking back for weekly updates on the Cards lone Tour player.
